Rongjiang County (榕江县) is located in southeastern Guizhou Province, at the intersection of the Miaoling Mountains, Leigong Mountain and Moon Mountain areas. As one of the most culturally diverse regions of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Rongjiang combines traditional Dong villages, Miao mountain settlements, ancient wooden architecture, terraced fields and rural landscapes. Transportation planning in Rongjiang depends greatly on the destination. The county can be divided into four major travel transportation zones. The first is the Rongjiang County town and nearby cultural area, including Village Super (村超), Sanbao Dong Village (三宝侗寨), ancient streets and riverside areas. This area has flat roads, convenient buses and easy access, making it suitable for first-time visitors, families and elderly travelers.

The second area is the Zhaima Dong Village cultural zone, including Dali Dong Village (大利侗寨) and Zhaidang Dong Village (宰荡侗寨). The third area is the Leli Seventy-Two Dong Villages area (乐里七十二侗寨). Due to tourism development, transportation facilities are relatively complete, with scenic shuttle buses and better road conditions.

These destinations are hidden in the Moon Mountain and Leigong Mountain areas. Roads are narrow, with many sharp curves and sections close to cliffs. Village Super (村超) is located near the county town and has become Rongjiang’s most famous cultural tourism attraction. Visitors can take Bus Route 5 directly from Rongjiang Railway Station. Taxi transportation usually takes about 10 minutes.

During football festival periods, traffic around the stadium may become crowded. Public transportation and walking are often more convenient than driving.

Sanbao Dong Village Transportation

Sanbao Dong Village (三宝侗寨) is one of the most accessible ethnic villages in Rongjiang. Bus Route 5 reaches the ancient banyan tree area near the village entrance. Driving from downtown Rongjiang usually takes about 10 minutes.

Because of its convenient location, Sanbao Dong Village is suitable for half-day trips and can easily be combined with Village Super and county food experiences.

Dali Dong Village and Zhaidang Dong Village Transportation

Dali Dong Village is about 20–30 minutes from Rongjiang County by car. The road conditions are relatively good, and self-driving is convenient. Visitors without private vehicles can take rural buses or arrange local transfers.

Zhaidang Dong Village, known as an important Dong Grand Song cultural village, is slightly farther away. Public transportation is available but less frequent. Leli Seventy-Two Dong Villages (乐里七十二侗寨) has relatively complete tourism facilities compared with many remote villages.

Visitors can choose tourist shuttle buses, rural buses or self-driving. The journey from Rongjiang town takes around one hour.

The scenic area provides internal sightseeing transportation, making it suitable for families and travelers who prefer a more comfortable travel experience.

Transportation to Baibei Miao Village

Baibei Miao Village (摆贝苗寨) is located deep in the Moon Mountain area and is famous for its traditional Bird Clothes culture.

Public transportation requires taking a rural bus toward Xinghua Township and then transferring to a local vehicle or motorcycle to reach the village.

Driving from Rongjiang town takes about 1.5 hours. The mountain road is beautiful but includes many curves and narrow sections. Daytime travel is strongly recommended.

Shared electric bicycles are only suitable for downtown Rongjiang. They should not be used to travel to mountain villages because of distance restrictions and safety concerns.

During the rainy season, mountain roads may become slippery and unstable. Visitors traveling to Baibei, Kongshen and other mountain villages should prepare motion sickness medicine, rain protection and comfortable walking shoes.
