Kaili Transportation

In 2017, the added value of transportation, storage and postal service in Kaili City is 20.83 billion yuan, an increase of 7.9% over the previous year. The traffic mileage of the highway in the whole city is 1691.39 km, of which 84 km of the expressway, 151.92 km of national trunk highway, 118.58 km of the provincial road, 249.82 km of the county road, 425.58 km of the township road and 661.49 km of the village road.

How to Get to Kaili

At present, there are airport and railway station for tourists to visit the core area of Guizhou minority villages gathering. However, due to limited transportation between Kaili and other cities in China, tourists often get to Guiyang first and then take train or bus to Kaili.

By Air

Kaili Huangping Airport is located in Huangping County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. With 1.5 hours driving from the downtown of Kaili, Kaili Huangping Airport began construction on February 8, 2012, passed the completion acceptance on April 27, 2013, and officially operated on October 2 of the same year. There are flights between Guiyang, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Guilin, etc.

The most recommended way by taking flights is arriving at Guiyang Longdongbao Airport first, and taking airport shuttle bus to Guiyang railway station or bus terminal, and then go to Kaili by train or bus.

By Train

Kaili has no direct connections to overseas cities, but Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, has convenient transportation with some foreign cities as well as other major cities in China. Many tourists choose to get to Kaili from Guiyang. There are two railway stations in Kaili, Kaili South Railway Station and Kaili Railway Station. Railway Stations connecting Guiyang and Kaili are mainly Guiyang North Railway Station and Kaili South Railway Station.

Guiyang North Railway Station, Guiyang Bei for short, is a high-speed Railway Station in the southwest of China. The station is a stop on the Shanghai-Kunming, Guizhou-Guangzhou, Chengdu-Guizhou, Sichuan-Guizhou high speed railway lines. It is easy to get there by light rail and public bus.

Kaili South Railway Station was put into operation on June 18, 2015. Kaili South Railway Station is one of the major stations in Guizhou section of Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway, with more than 10 surrounding counties and cities of passenger flow radiation. By Long-distance Bus

National highway 320 and Shanghai-Kunming expressway run through Kaili, extending in all directions. You can take long-distance bus at Guiyang Longdongbao Bus Terminal, Jinyang Bus Terminal or other bus terminals in Guiyang to Kaili. It takes about 2.5 hour for the whole journey.

1. Bus

There are at least 29 routes public buses in Kaili and they can reach every corner of the city, the fare is only 1-3 yuan. It is convenient to go from Railway Station to the downtown by city bus.

2. Taxi

When getting around Kaili City, taxi is always a good choice, convenient and efficient. Accordingly, it costs more than public bus.

3. Car Rental

Departing from Kaili, it takes only 1-2 hours to drive to the surrounding attractions. You can rent a vehicle to travel around Kaili City.
