    Anshun is located at 105°13′-106°34′ east longitude, 25°21′-26°38′ north latitude, with an latitude of  560-1500 meters above sea level, enjoying a typical plateau humid subtropical monsoon climate. Anshun rainfall is abundant, with the annual average rainfall of 1360 mm and the annual average temperature between 14-16℃. The historical maximum temperature is 34.3℃, the minimum temperature of -7.6℃, the annual average relative humidity of 80%, and the annual average wind speed of 2.4 m/ s. The climate in Anshun is mild and pleasant, with no intense heat in summer and no bitter cold in winter. The main features of Anshun's climate are cool, moist, fresh, and low solar radiation.

    In Anshun, the average sunshine duration in summer is only 4 hours a day, while in Lushan, Harbin, Chengde and other places, 7 hours or so. Anshun is located in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, but because there is much cloud and rain, which effectively prevents the damage of solar radiation and ultraviolet radiation to the human body. Therefore, Anshun people appear fairer skin than the residents of other highland areas(such as Kunming).

    In summer, there are two climatic features in Anshun: one is the frequent valley wind and summer monsoon, the other is that there is much cloud and rain. Anshun is located on the ridge line of Miaoling Mountain in Guizhou Plateau, so the valley wind is obvious. The southwest monsoon comes from the Indian Ocean, so summer monsoon is much and without sultry sensation. The average wind speed in summer is 2.5-3.0 m / s. With abundant rainfall, the annual precipitation in Anshun is between 1290-1380 mm. Most of the rainfall is concentrated in summer.

    In Anshun, the average temperature is above 10 ℃ for nine months a year; The time frame when the daily maximum temperature above 35℃ is called "intense heat period", so Anshun has almost no record of high temperature above 35 ℃. The average annual temperature is between 14-16℃. The hottest month is July, with an average temperature of 22-24℃. The coldest month is January, with an average temperature of about 4-7℃.

    Anshun is a typical plateau humid subtropical monsoon climate, no intense heat in summer and no severe cold in winter, mild and pleasant. The main features of Anshun climate are cool, moist, fresh and low solar radiation. In spring, rape flowers are in bloom, you can see the beautiful rape flower field. In summer, with cool weather, Anshun is a good place to escape the heat. In autumn, it is the best time to enjoy the Huangguoshu waterfall. In winter, tourists to Anshun is less. But if you want, it is a good time to experience the internal implication of the small city.

    Best Time to Visit

    The best time to travel in Anshun is in spring, summer and autumn, especially in July and August. Scenery in Anshun has its own merits in different seasons. Anshun's comfort period lasts for 8 months (March to November) every year. The average temperature in Anshun is between 14-16℃. The wettest weather of Huangguoshu waterfall is in summer. In summer, the waterfall is rich in water, making it look magnificent. In winter, the water is less, the temperature is less than 10℃, and the tourists are relatively few.

    Packing Tips

    1. Anshun is mainly a karst landform, with complex topography in various scenic spots, and there are many opportunities for climbing and descending mountain. Therefore, it is appropriate to visit Anshun in light clothing and avoid wearing high-heeled shoes and plastic sandals.

    2. It is advisable not to hold up an umbrella since there are thunderstorms at times in summer. You'd better wear a raincoat and prepare a thin coat. Surely, umbrella is needed as well, in case of the unexpected rainfall.

    3. Sunscreen, hats and sunglasses are essential, especially at noon when the solar radiation is relatively strong.

    4. When sightseeing the waterfall, there is heavy thick mist. You'd better take a waterproof camera with you. Don't forget to bring lens shade and plastic bags, or wear peaked cap.

    Try to avoid the Chinese peak holidays when planning your Anshun tour. Popular with Chinese travelers, scenic spots in Anshun become much more crowded during peak holidays. The most crowded holidays are Spring Festival(usually in late Jan. or early Feb.), International Labor Day(May 1-3) and National Day(Golden week, Oct. 1-7). The advantage of being in China at this time is that you have the opportunity to experience the significance of these celebrations in Chinese culture closely.
