  • Qinzhou Transportation

Qinzhou is located on the northern coast of the Beibu Gulf and has developed a comprehensive transportation network combining high-speed railways, expressways, national highways, coastal roads, and rural transportation systems. The city’s tourism areas are distributed across Qinnan District, Qinbei District, Lingshan County, and Pubei County, covering coastal ecology, forest mountains, ancient villages, and cultural attractions. Because many scenic areas are separated by considerable distances, choosing the right transportation method is essential for an efficient Qinzhou tour.

The overall transportation structure of Qinzhou can be summarized as “high-speed rail as the gateway, expressways as the backbone, scenic roads as the connection, and self-driving as the best way to explore.” High-speed rail and public transportation are convenient for short city visits, while self-driving and motorcycle trips are more suitable for connecting multiple scenic areas such as Sanniang Bay (三娘湾), Sandun Sea Highway (三墩海上公路), Bazhaigou Scenic Area (八寨沟), Liufeng Mountain (六峰山), and Dalu Ancient Village (大芦村).

For different travelers, the most suitable choices are clear: families and private groups are recommended to travel by car; motorcycle travelers can enjoy the coastal highways and countryside roads; cycling is suitable for urban leisure routes only; independent travelers can combine high-speed rail with scenic shuttle buses.

Qinzhou External Transportation and Main Traffic Routes

    High-Speed Railway and Railway Transportation

Qinzhou East Railway Station (钦州东站) is the most important passenger transportation hub in the city. It connects Qinzhou with major destinations in Guangxi, including Nanning, Beihai, and Fangchenggang. The journey from Nanning East Railway Station (南宁东站) to Qinzhou East takes about 40–50 minutes, making Qinzhou an ideal weekend destination from the regional capital.

Qinzhou Railway Station (钦州站) mainly serves conventional railway routes, while the long-distance bus station provides additional connections to counties and towns. Visitors who travel independently can use the railway network to reach Qinzhou city center and then transfer to local transportation.

    Airport Connection

Qinzhou has no civil airport. The nearest major airport is Nanning Wuxu International Airport (南宁吴圩国际机场). Travelers arriving by air can take airport buses, private transfers, or rental cars to Qinzhou, with a journey time of approximately two hours.

For international visitors, the common route is usually flying into Nanning, transferring by high-speed rail or private vehicle to Qinzhou, and then continuing to coastal attractions.

    Expressways and Road Network

Qinzhou has a well-developed road system supported by several major expressways, including Lanhai Expressway (兰海高速), Puqing Expressway (浦清高速), Guihe Expressway (贵合高速), and Nanzhan Expressway (南湛高速). These roads connect Qinzhou with Nanning, Beihai, Fangchenggang, and inland Guangxi.

The main tourism roads include G242 National Highway, which connects Qinzhou city with the coastal area of Xiniujiao Town and Sanniang Bay, as well as the Guangxi Coastal Highway and Sandun Sea Highway, which provide some of the best self-driving scenery in the region.

Most villages and scenic areas have paved roads, but mountain destinations such as Bazhaigou, Wuhuang Mountain, and some rural areas of Lingshan and Pubei have more curves and narrower roads. Extra caution is required during the rainy season.

    Transportation Guide by Tourism Area

Qinnan District Transportation | Coastal and Urban Tourism Area

Qinnan District is the most convenient tourism area in Qinzhou because it combines the city center, historical attractions, cultural museums, and coastal destinations.

Qinzhou Old Street, Liu Feng Historic Area and Nixing Pottery Attractions

The urban attractions, including Qinzhou Old Street (钦州老街), Former Residences of Feng Zicai and Liu Yongfu (刘冯故居), and Nixing Pottery Museum (坭兴陶博物馆), are easy to access by city buses, taxis, shared electric bicycles, and walking.

Self-driving visitors are advised to park near the scenic area entrances and explore the historic streets on foot, as many old streets have pedestrian sections.

    Sanniang Bay Scenic Area Transportation

Sanniang Bay (三娘湾) is located in Xiniujiao Town and is Qinzhou’s most famous coastal attraction.

Driving is the most convenient option. From Qinzhou city center, the journey takes around 40 minutes via G242 National Highway. From Nanning, it takes about two hours. Visitors should set the navigation destination as the Sanniang Bay Visitor Center.

For travelers without cars, Qinzhou East Railway Station provides tourist shuttle services to Sanniang Bay. The journey takes about 40–45 minutes, making it the most practical public transportation option for independent travelers.

Motorcycles are suitable for this coastal route, offering beautiful sea views along the way. However, long-distance cycling from Qinzhou city to Sanniang Bay is not recommended because of road distance and traffic conditions.

Inside the scenic area, sightseeing vehicles connect the visitor center, beach, and pier, making transportation convenient for families and older travelers.

Qinbei District Transportation | Forest and Canyon Area

    Bazhaigou Scenic Area Transportation

Bazhaigou (八寨沟) is located in Guantai Town, Qinbei District, and is one of Qinzhou’s most popular natural attractions.

Self-driving is the most recommended method. The journey from Qinzhou city center takes about one hour. The final mountain section contains many bends, so drivers should reduce speed and avoid entering after dark.

Public transportation is available through local buses, but schedules are limited. Visitors should confirm the return departure time before entering the scenic area.

During summer and rainy seasons, mountain roads may experience slippery surfaces or occasional falling rocks. Careful driving is required.

Qinzhou Port and Coastal Scenic Route Transportation

    Sandun Sea Highway Transportation

Sandun Sea Highway (三墩海上公路) is one of Qinzhou’s most popular photography locations and is best explored by private car or motorcycle.

The scenic road section is approximately 13 kilometers long and connects the Qinzhou Port area with the coastal direction of Xiniujiao Town. Sunset is the best time for photography.

Visitors should avoid stopping randomly on the road because of passing vehicles and heavy trucks. Use safe parking areas or viewpoints instead. Public transportation access is limited, so private transportation is strongly recommended.

    Xili Bay Transportation

Xili Bay (犀丽湾) is located near Sanniang Bay and is suitable for travelers seeking a quieter beach experience.

Because there is no convenient direct bus service, the recommended transportation options are self-driving, taxi, motorcycle, or chartered vehicles.

    Lingshan and Pubei County Transportation

Lingshan Ancient Village and Mountain Routes

Attractions such as Dalu Ancient Village (大芦村) and Liufeng Mountain (六峰山) are suitable for self-driving travelers. From Qinzhou city center, the driving time is approximately one to one and a half hours.

Public transportation is available from Lingshan County, but connections between Qinzhou city and rural attractions are less frequent. Visitors planning a multi-attraction route should prioritize private transportation.

    Pubei Mountain Scenic Areas

Wuhuang Mountain (五皇山) and other mountain destinations in Pubei are mainly suitable for self-driving.

The mountain roads include slopes and curves, so visitors should avoid speeding downhill and should check weather conditions before departure.

    Self-Driving Travel Guide for Qinzhou

Self-driving is the most flexible way to explore Qinzhou because many attractions are located in different counties and scenic areas.

    Coastal Self-Driving Loop

    The classic coastal route is:

Qinzhou City → Sandun Sea Highway → Sanniang Bay → Xili Bay → Qinzhou City

This route combines sea views, sunset photography, dolphin observation, fishing villages, and coastal cuisine.

    Mountain Escape Route

    A recommended summer route is:

Qinzhou City → Bazhaigou Scenic Area

This route is suitable for forest hiking, stream walking, and family summer vacations.

    Three-Day Qinzhou Complete Self-Driving Route

Day 1: Qinzhou City → Sandun Sea Highway → Sanniang Bay, stay at seaside accommodation.

Day 2: Qinzhou Old Street → Liu Yongfu Residence → Nixing pottery cultural experience.

Day 3: Bazhaigou forest hiking and nature exploration.

When driving in Qinzhou, avoid unnecessary shortcuts through narrow village roads. Coastal highways may have heavy traffic, while mountain roads require extra caution during rainy periods.

    Motorcycle Touring Guide

Qinzhou is suitable for motorcycle travel because of its coastal scenery, rural roads, and relatively mild climate.

    Recommended Motorcycle Routes

The most popular motorcycle route is:

Qinzhou City → Sandun Sea Highway → Xiniujiao Town → Sanniang Bay

This route offers continuous coastal scenery and is especially beautiful during sunset.

    Another option is:

    Qinzhou City → Bazhaigou

This short mountain route is suitable for summer riding.

Experienced riders can extend the journey:

Qinzhou → Lingshan Liufeng Mountain → Pubei Wuhuang Mountain

forming a multi-day mountain and countryside motorcycle route.

    Motorcycle Safety Tips

Riders should always carry helmets, protective equipment, driving documents, and rain gear.

    Important reminders include:

    • Do not stop motorcycles in traffic lanes for photos.
    • Slow down on mountain curves.
    • Avoid night riding on rural roads without lighting.
    • Refuel before entering remote coastal or mountain sections.

    Cycling Travel Guide

Qinzhou is not ideal for long-distance cycling between counties because of road distance, traffic, and weather conditions.

Cycling is better suited for short leisure routes.

    Recommended Urban Cycling Routes

The most suitable cycling areas include:

Qinzhou Old Street → Garden Expo Park → Urban Coastal Roads

These routes are relatively flat and suitable for casual cycling, family outings, and city sightseeing.

    Short Coastal Cycling Experience

Experienced cyclists may try sections near Qinzhou Port and Sandun Sea Highway during daytime.

However, cycling directly from Qinzhou city to Sanniang Bay is not recommended because of long distance and truck traffic.

Cyclists should prepare sunscreen, water, repair tools, and avoid riding during strong coastal winds.

    Transportation Plans for Different Travelers

High-Speed Rail + Public Transportation Route

    Suitable for solo travelers:

Morning: Nanning East → Qinzhou East Railway Station.

Morning: Transfer to Sanniang Bay tourist shuttle.

Afternoon: Return to Qinzhou city and visit Old Street and historical attractions.

    Evening: Return by high-speed rail.

    Two-Day Coastal Self-Driving Route

Day 2: Morning dolphin watching and beach activities → Qinzhou Old Street → Nixing pottery experience.

    Motorcycle Coastal Day Trip

Suitable for photography lovers and motorcycle travelers.

    Summer Mountain Escape Trip

Day 1: Qinzhou → Bazhaigou hiking.

Day 2: Liu Yongfu Residence → Qinzhou Old Street food tour.

    Seasonal Transportation Characteristics

    Spring (March–May)

Spring weather is comfortable and suitable for coastal driving, motorcycle trips, and cycling.

Mountain roads may become slippery after rainfall, so outdoor travelers should prepare appropriate equipment.

    Summer (June–August)

Summer is the peak season for Bazhaigou.

Visitors should avoid driving mountain roads during heavy afternoon storms. Coastal attractions are best visited in the morning or late afternoon to avoid strong sunlight.

    Autumn (September–November)

Autumn is the best season for transportation and sightseeing.

The weather is dry, visibility is excellent, and conditions are ideal for self-driving, motorcycle touring, and coastal photography.

    Winter (December–February)

Winter has less traffic and comfortable temperatures.

It is suitable for city sightseeing, museums, and cultural routes. Coastal travelers should prepare windproof clothing because sea winds can be stronger.

    Qinzhou Transportation Travel Tips

Remote scenic areas usually have fewer buses and earlier last departures. Travelers should avoid depending on temporary transportation options and should not use unlicensed vehicles.

The entire coastal area around Sanniang Bay and mangrove wetlands has environmental protection regulations. Drone use should follow local management requirements.

For motorcycle and cycling travelers, avoid riding on highways, pay attention to coastal winds, and maintain vehicle conditions after riding near the sea.

For international study groups and large groups, professional tourism buses are recommended because they provide safer transfers, easier management, and better schedule control.
