  • Dongxing Administrative Divisions

Dongxing City (东兴市) is a county-level city under the administration of Fangchenggang City (防城港市), Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Located at the southwestern end of mainland China’s coastline and facing Vietnam across the Beilun River, Dongxing is an important border city connecting China and ASEAN. The city covers an area of approximately 590 square kilometers and has a simple administrative structure consisting of three towns: Dongxing Town (东兴镇), Jiangping Town (江平镇), and Malu Town (马路镇). The municipal government is located in Zhongshan Community (中山社区), Dongxing Town.

Dongxing has 11 communities and 31 administrative villages. The city’s terrain gradually decreases from northwest to southeast, with low mountains and hills in the north, rolling hills in the middle, and coastal plains, tidal flats, islands, and mangrove wetlands along the southeast coast. Based on administrative divisions and tourism resources, Dongxing has formed three major tourism zones: Dongxing Town as the border cultural center, Jiangping Town as the Jing ethnic coastal tourism core, and Malu Town as the mountain ecological tourism area.

With the support of major transportation routes including Fangdong High-Speed Railway (防东高铁), Qindong Expressway (钦东高速), G219 Border Highway (G219沿边国道), and G228 Coastal National Highway (G228滨海国道), Dongxing can efficiently connect border landmarks, coastal villages, ethnic cultural sites, and mountain landscapes. The city has developed a distinctive tourism pattern featuring “border culture, marine ethnic heritage, and mountain ecology”, making it suitable for cultural tourism, international study tours, coastal vacations, and China–ASEAN exchange programs.

Dongxing City has a simple administrative structure with only three towns and no townships or ethnic townships. When planning tourism routes, visitors can select accommodation and activities according to the town’s tourism positioning.

Dongxing Town is the best choice for travelers focusing on border sightseeing, port culture, and convenient transportation. Jiangping Town is the priority area for Jing ethnic culture, golden beaches, coastal photography, and marine experiences. Malu Town is suitable for travelers extending their journey into rainforest landscapes and mountain recreation.

Some villages near the border, especially Zhushan Village (竹山村) and coastal villages in Jiangping Town, are close to border control areas. Visitors should follow local regulations, avoid photographing restricted facilities, and carry valid identification documents.

Together, the three towns create Dongxing’s complete tourism pattern: border culture in Dongxing Town, marine ethnic heritage in Jiangping Town, and mountain ecology in Malu Town, forming a unique China–ASEAN border tourism destination with Yaso Trip.
