Beijing accommodation lists the recommended luxury, comfortable, economic and cheap hotels and hostels in Beijing, which can help you stay in Beijing City with great environment and service. In Beijing, the various functional areas are distributed in a rectangular ring, and divided into many different areas. The attractions in Beijing radiate around the Forbidden City, and the subway is cheap and unobstructed and covers most of scenic spots. As the capital of China and an international metropolis, Beijing serves very convenient accommodation for tourists. And also in this reason, there are too many hotels in Beijing to choose from, making people dazzling. In addition, since there is a flag-raising ceremony at Tiananmen square in the early morning, most people choose to stay near Tiananmen square.
Beijing (北京市) offers one of China’s broadest accommodation markets, ranging from internationally branded luxury hotels and historic state guesthouses to renovated courtyard residences, museum-themed hotels, Great Wall retreats, hot-spring resorts, theme-park hotels, airport properties and countryside homestays.
Beijing currently administers 16 municipal districts and has no subordinate counties or county-level cities. In this guide, the “surrounding county and city areas” are therefore interpreted as Beijing’s outer districts and suburban tourism regions, including Huairou, Miyun, Yanqing, Changping, Fangshan, Mentougou and Pinggu.
Beijing’s hotel inventory is continuing to shift from simple room supply toward differentiated cultural and destination accommodation. Under the city’s 2026 accommodation-development measures, Beijing aims by 2030 to create 10 high-end hotel clusters, raise the hotel chain-operation rate above 60% and cultivate more than 600 high-quality star-rated, green, boutique and themed hotels. The policy emphasizes luxury and boutique upgrading in the historic core, international brands in central districts, new high-quality hotels around Universal Beijing Resort and the Grand Canal in Tongzhou, airport and conference hotels in the new towns, and rural or resort accommodation in ecological conservation districts.
Commercial estimates of Beijing’s total hotel supply differ because some calculations include serviced apartments, hostels, homestays and short-term accommodation. Travelers should use total-market figures only as a general indication and confirm the current operating status of an individual hotel before booking.

Understanding Beijing’s Accommodation Geography
Beijing is too large for one hotel location to serve every itinerary efficiently. A hotel near the Forbidden City may be excellent for historic sightseeing but inconvenient for Universal Beijing Resort, while a Great Wall resort can be two hours or more from the central city.
The accommodation market can be divided into five broad zones:
| Accommodation Zone |
Main Districts |
General Character |
| Historic Core |
Dongcheng and Xicheng |
Imperial heritage, hutongs, courtyard hotels, museums and traditional Beijing culture |
| Modern Central City |
Chaoyang, Haidian, Fengtai and Shijingshan |
CBD towers, embassies, technology districts, railway hubs, Olympic venues and industrial heritage |
| Urban Subcenter and New Towns |
Tongzhou, Shunyi, Daxing and Changping |
Universal Resort, Grand Canal, airports, exhibitions, business parks and family hotels |
| Northern Scenic Belt |
Huairou, Miyun and Yanqing |
Great Wall, lakes, mountains, ski resorts, hot springs and countryside retreats |
| Western and Eastern Ecological Belt |
Mentougou, Fangshan and Pinggu |
Mountain villages, geological landscapes, rural tourism, fruit farms and boutique homestays |
Beijing’s official hotel-development policy follows a similar geographical logic: the historic core is expected to reduce quantity while improving quality, the central city will strengthen international and cultural hotel clusters, the subcenter will expand tourism and conference accommodation, and the ecological districts will concentrate on resorts, rural hotels, wellness and educational stays.
Main Accommodation Types in Beijing
International Luxury Hotels
International luxury hotels are concentrated around Wangfujing (王府井), the Beijing CBD, Sanlitun (三里屯), Financial Street (金融街), Jinji Lake— correction: Beijing does not have Jinji Lake—and the Olympic and embassy districts. They normally provide multilingual reception, international cards, concierge services, connecting rooms, full-service restaurants, swimming pools and assistance with airport transfers or attraction reservations.
These hotels are the most convenient choice for international visitors, diplomatic and business travelers, luxury groups and families requiring reliable facilities.
Courtyard and Hutong Hotels
Courtyard accommodation is one of Beijing’s most distinctive hotel experiences. Traditional siheyuan courtyard houses (四合院) are concentrated in Dongcheng and Xicheng, particularly around Qianmen, Dongsi, Shichahai and the northern hutongs.
Courtyard hotels can provide privacy, historical atmosphere and direct access to local neighborhoods. However, smaller traditional buildings may have uneven floors, stairs, compact bathrooms, limited vehicle access and weaker sound insulation than modern towers.
Themed and Cultural Hotels
Beijing officially assesses themed hotels under Gold Feather, Silver Feather and Bronze Feather classifications. The 2025 assessment recognized 17 newly rated theme hotels, including opera, courtyard, classical-garden, art-museum, aviation, pet-friendly and industrial-cultural properties.
Representative examples include Qianmen Jianguo Hotel (北京前门建国饭店) for Peking Opera culture, Fragrant Hill Hotel (北京香山饭店) for classical garden design, Huaqiao Yebo SSAW Hotel (北京华侨夜泊君亭酒店) for architectural heritage and A.C. Art Museum Hotel (北京奥加美术馆酒店) for contemporary art.
Theme-Park and Family Hotels
Universal Beijing Resort has created Beijing’s strongest theme-park accommodation cluster. Family properties are also found around Beijing Wildlife Park, Happy Valley, the Olympic area, Shougang Park and suburban ski resorts.
The real value of a theme-park hotel is not only the decoration. Travelers should check whether the booking includes early admission, park tickets, character breakfasts, shuttle transport or other benefits.
Great Wall and Mountain Resorts
The Great Wall passes through several Beijing districts, but accommodation is concentrated around three main tourism areas:
- Badaling and Shuiguan in Yanqing
- Mutianyu and Huanghuacheng in Huairou
- Simatai and Gubei Water Town in Miyun
Great Wall accommodation ranges from international resorts to village guesthouses. Staying overnight makes sunrise, sunset and evening visits possible, but restaurants, taxis and shops may be limited outside the principal tourism complexes.
Airport and Transit Hotels
Airport hotels are concentrated around Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) in Shunyi and Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) in Daxing.
They are suitable for late arrivals, early departures, exhibitions and short business stays. They are generally poor bases for a full central-Beijing sightseeing program because daily airport-to-city commuting consumes substantial time.

Dongcheng District Hotels
Wangfujing, Forbidden City and Dongdan
Dongcheng District (东城区) is the most practical area for travelers prioritizing the Forbidden City, Tiananmen, Wangfujing, the Beijing Central Axis, the Temple of Heaven and major museums.
The PuXuan Hotel and Spa (北京璞瑄酒店) stands at the meeting point of Wangfujing and Wusi Street beside the Guardian Art Center, combining contemporary design with proximity to the Forbidden City. The Peninsula Beijing (北京王府半岛酒店) is an all-suite luxury hotel in Wangfujing, within walking distance of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. Grand Hyatt Beijing (北京东方君悦大酒店) is connected to Oriental Plaza and combines cultural sightseeing with shopping and metro access.
Wangfujing is recommended for first-time visitors, luxury travelers and families who want established international services. It is less suitable for guests seeking a quiet residential atmosphere.
Qianmen and the Historic Central Axis
Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing (北京前门文华东方酒店) is one of the capital’s most distinctive heritage accommodations. Instead of conventional guest rooms, it operates 42 private courtyard residences within a traditional hutong neighborhood. The property opened in 2024 and forms part of the Beijing Central Axis cultural environment.
Qianmen also has cultural and midscale hotels in historic buildings. Huaqiao Yebo SSAW Hotel (北京华侨夜泊君亭酒店) was rated a Gold Feather themed hotel in 2025, while Qiuguo Courtyard Hotel near Wangfujing (秋果四合院酒店—北京王府井协和医院店) received a Silver Feather rating for its courtyard and historic-Beijing theme.
This part of Beijing is suitable for travelers seeking traditional architecture and walking access to the southern historic city. Taxis may not be able to stop directly at every courtyard entrance.
Dongzhimen and the Lama Temple Area
Dongzhimen is a practical compromise between the historic city, Sanlitun and Capital Airport. It has direct Airport Express access and convenient transport toward the Lama Temple, Guijie food street and the northern hutongs.
JW Marriott Hotel Beijing Dongzhimen (北京东直门JW万豪酒店) is positioned beside the East Second Ring Road and provides convenient access to the Airport Express, Sanlitun and historic neighborhoods.
Xicheng District Hotels
Financial Street and Xidan
Xicheng District (西城区) combines imperial lakes, Shichahai, Beihai, Xidan, Financial Street, the National Centre for the Performing Arts and the western section of the historic core.
Financial Street contains luxury business hotels such as The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street (北京金融街丽思卡尔顿酒店) and The Westin Beijing Financial Street (北京金融街威斯汀大酒店). They are suitable for finance, government and corporate travel but provide a quieter evening environment than Wangfujing or Sanlitun.
JW Marriott Hotel Beijing Central (北京粤财JW万豪酒店) lies near Xuanwumen, Xidan and Financial Street, with metro access to the Central Axis and major railway stations. Pan Pacific Beijing (北京泛太平洋酒店) is located in Xidan close to shopping, Financial Street and central historic sites.
Qianmen West and Peking Opera Culture
Qianmen Jianguo Hotel (北京前门建国饭店) was rated a Gold Feather theme hotel in 2025. Its defining feature is Peking Opera culture and the Liyuan Theatre, making it appropriate for cultural groups and travelers seeking an experience linked directly to traditional performance.
Shichahai and Houhai
Shichahai offers courtyard hotels and small boutique properties around lakes, hutongs, bars and historic residences. Houhai Courtyard Hotel (后海里院酒店) received a Silver Feather theme-hotel rating in the 2025 Beijing assessment.
This is one of the most atmospheric areas of central Beijing, but nightlife noise and pedestrian access vary considerably by lane. Check the exact map location rather than relying only on the words “Houhai” or “Shichahai” in the hotel name.
Chaoyang District Hotels
Beijing CBD and China World Trade Center
Chaoyang District (朝阳区) contains Beijing’s largest concentration of international business and luxury hotels. The CBD around Guomao, Jianguomenwai and China Central Place provides easy access to corporate offices, shopping centers, embassies and high-end restaurants.
Park Hyatt Beijing (北京柏悦酒店) occupies the upper floors of Beijing Yintai Centre and is known for high-rise CBD views. JW Marriott Hotel Beijing (北京JW万豪酒店) is located at China Central Place beside Dawanglu metro station. Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel (北京富力万丽酒店) is in the Shuangjing–CBD area and is a practical full-service choice for both business and leisure travel.
CBD hotels offer large rooms, executive lounges and international service, but morning traffic can make road transfers slow. Metro access is more important than straight-line distance.
Sanlitun and the Embassy District
Sanlitun is Beijing’s principal nightlife, fashion and international dining area. InterContinental Beijing Sanlitun (北京三里屯洲际酒店) stands beside the embassy and CBD districts and is suited to nightlife, shopping and younger luxury travelers.
Sanlitun is less convenient for early morning visits to the Forbidden City than Wangfujing, but it provides a stronger contemporary city experience.
Lufthansa, Sanyuanqiao and Lido
The Lufthansa, Liangmaqiao, Sanyuanqiao and Lido areas are convenient for embassies, international organizations, Capital Airport and 798 Art District.
Hotels around Sanyuanqiao provide Airport Express access, while Lido properties are useful for Wangjing, 798 and international business. This area is often a better choice than the CBD for guests with frequent airport transfers.
Wangjing and 798 Art District
Wangjing has developed into a technology, creative-business and international residential center. Its hotels are generally newer and provide good access to Capital Airport, 798 Art District and northeastern Beijing.
Staying in Wangjing is logical for business or art-focused itineraries, but it is not the most efficient location for daily sightseeing in Tiananmen, Qianmen and western Beijing.
Olympic Park and Asian Games Village
The Olympic area has large hotels serving conferences, sports events and exhibitions at the China National Convention Center. It is suitable for the Bird’s Nest, Water Cube, Olympic Forest Park and northern Beijing.
Event dates can cause substantial price increases. Travelers attending a major exhibition, concert or sporting event should book in the immediate Olympic area rather than commuting from southern Beijing.
Haidian District Hotels
Summer Palace and Royal Garden Accommodation
Haidian District (海淀区) contains the Summer Palace, Old Summer Palace, Fragrant Hills, Beijing’s leading universities and the Zhongguancun technology district.
Aman Summer Palace (颐和安缦酒店) occupies historic-style pavilions beside the Summer Palace and is designed as a quiet destination hotel rather than a conventional urban base. Its location is particularly suitable for travelers prioritizing royal garden culture and privacy.
Fragrant Hills
Fragrant Hill Hotel (北京香山饭店) was designed by architect I. M. Pei and received a Gold Feather classical-garden theme-hotel rating in the 2025 Beijing assessment. Its location within the Fragrant Hills area is convenient for autumn foliage and western mountain visits but distant from eastern Beijing and Universal Resort.
Traffic around Fragrant Hills becomes extremely congested during peak autumn weekends. Staying nearby can make an early visit more practical.
Zhongguancun and University District
Hotels around Zhongguancun, Wudaokou, Tsinghua University and Peking University primarily serve business, academic and educational visitors. The area has luxury, conference and long-stay accommodation, but individual properties may be far from the Summer Palace despite being within Haidian.
Renaissance Beijing Haidian Hotel (北京中关村东升科技园万丽酒店) provides a modern business base in the Dongsheng Science and Technology Park area.
Fengtai District Hotels
Lize Financial Business District
Fengtai District (丰台区) has become increasingly important because of Beijing Fengtai Railway Station, Beijing South Railway Station, Lize Financial Business District and the southern Central Axis.
Sheraton Beijing Lize Hotel (北京丽泽金融商务区喜来登酒店) is located in the Lize district and provides access to Fengtai, South and West railway stations. The property includes a restaurant specializing in Qinghai and northwestern Chinese cuisine; it is sometimes inaccurately described online as a “New Qinghai Sheraton,” but its official hotel name is Sheraton Beijing Lize Hotel.
Lize is suitable for railway transfers, conferences and business travel. It is not as atmospheric as Dongcheng or Xicheng for a first cultural visit.
Beijing South Railway Station and Temple of Heaven South
The South Railway Station area contains a large number of international midscale and Chinese chain hotels. It is one of the most efficient locations for travelers continuing by high-speed train to Shanghai, Tianjin, Shandong or southern China.
Four Points by Sheraton Beijing South Railway Station, The Temple of Heaven Park provides a branded option serving the southern station and Temple of Heaven area.
Avoid selecting a hotel solely because it includes “Temple of Heaven” in its English name. Check the actual distance to the attraction’s public entrance.
Shijingshan District Hotels
Shijingshan District (石景山区) combines Shougang Park, Winter Olympic heritage, industrial architecture, western Chang’an Avenue and access toward the western mountains.
Shangri-La Shougang Park, Beijing (北京首钢园香格里拉酒店) is the district’s landmark accommodation. It stands within the transformed steelworks and overlooks Shijingshan Mountain and Qunming Lake. The property is close to Jin’anqiao metro station and is particularly suitable for industrial-heritage travel, sports events, architecture, family stays and western-Beijing itineraries.
Shijingshan is quieter and less central than Wangfujing but provides a distinctive urban-resort atmosphere.
Tongzhou District Hotels
Universal Beijing Resort
Tongzhou District (通州区) is Beijing’s municipal subcenter and the location of Universal Beijing Resort, the Grand Canal tourism area and a growing conference and business-hotel market.
The two official hotels inside Universal Beijing Resort are:
The Universal Studios Grand Hotel (环球影城大酒店) stands directly at the park entrance and uses a Golden Age of Hollywood theme. NUO Resort Hotel—Universal Beijing Resort (北京环球度假区诺金度假酒店) is approximately a five-minute walk from the entrance and uses design inspired by Qing Dynasty gardens. Guests at both hotels can receive early park admission to selected areas when holding valid park admission and meeting the applicable conditions.
These hotels provide the strongest convenience for a one- or two-day theme-park visit. They should not normally be used for a complete Beijing cultural itinerary because Universal Resort is far from the historic core.
Canal Business District and Taihu
Hotels around the Grand Canal, Tongzhou city center and Taihu serve meetings, performing arts and the municipal subcenter. Beitou Taihu Performing Arts Hotel (北投台湖演艺酒店) received Gold Leaf green-hotel status in the 2025 assessment.
Shunyi District and Capital Airport Hotels
Shunyi District (顺义区) contains Beijing Capital International Airport, the New China International Exhibition Center, international residential communities and several equestrian and leisure areas.
Hilton Beijing Capital Airport (北京首都机场希尔顿酒店) is near Terminals 2 and 3 and operates a complimentary airport shuttle. It provides an indoor pool, executive lounge and connecting-room options, making it suitable for flight connections and families.
Crowne Plaza Beijing International Airport (北京临空皇冠假日酒店) is near the New China International Exhibition Center and Capital Airport, with access to Metro Line 15.
Airport hotels should be selected based on the operating terminal, shuttle timetable and exhibition location. A hotel advertised as an “airport hotel” may still require a 15- to 30-minute road transfer.
Daxing District and Daxing Airport Hotels
Beijing Daxing International Airport
Mumian Beijing Daxing International Airport (北京大兴国际机场木棉花酒店) is located within the airport zone and is part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Its design presents the hotel as a study and cultural space for travelers, making it suitable for long connections, early flights and aviation-oriented stays.
Hilton Garden Inn Beijing Daxing International Airport provides a more conventional airport option in the surrounding aviation zone.
Xihongmen and Northern Daxing
Hilton Beijing Daxing (北京大兴希尔顿酒店) is close to Xihongmen and provides access to southern Beijing and Metro Line 4. It is considerably closer to the urban area than hotels immediately beside Daxing Airport, although the airport journey still requires road travel.
Yizhuang and the Economic-Technological Development Area
Yizhuang has a large supply of business, serviced-apartment and international midscale hotels. It is suitable for manufacturing, technology and conference travel and can also serve the southern part of Beijing.
It is not an efficient base for the Great Wall, Summer Palace or northern Beijing.
Changping District Hotels
Changping District (昌平区) includes the Ming Tombs, Juyongguan Great Wall, hot-spring areas, university campuses and Future Science City.
Accommodation is concentrated around Changping town, Shahe, Huilongguan, Xiaotangshan and the Ming Tombs access roads. The market includes conference centers, business hotels, hot-spring properties and countryside hotels.
Shahe Weishi International Cultural Exchange Center (沙河唯实国际文化交流中心) received a Gold Feather theme-hotel rating in the 2025 Beijing assessment.
Changping can be used for a Great Wall and Ming Tombs itinerary, but travelers must check the exact section of the Great Wall. Badaling is in Yanqing, Mutianyu is in Huairou and Simatai is in Miyun.
Huairou District Hotels
Yanqi Lake
Huairou District (怀柔区) is one of Beijing’s strongest resort destinations, combining Yanqi Lake, Mutianyu Great Wall, Hongluo Temple, mountain valleys and science-conference facilities.
Yanqi Hotel, managed by Kempinski (北京雁栖酒店) is located beside Yanqi Lake and offers 110 rooms and suites, spa facilities, an indoor pool and meeting spaces. Sunrise Kempinski Hotel Beijing (北京日出东方凯宾斯基酒店) is the distinctive circular building on the lakeshore and contains more than 300 rooms and suites.
Beijing Marriott Hotel Huairou (北京怀柔万豪酒店) is beside the Yanqi Lake International Convention Center and approximately an eight-minute drive from the lake scenic area. Aloft Beijing Huairou (北京怀柔雅乐轩酒店) provides a younger, more casual option in Huairou Science City.
Mutianyu Great Wall
Mutianyu has a growing selection of village guesthouses, boutique hotels and design-led countryside properties. Staying nearby is useful for early entrance, hiking and a slower Great Wall experience.
Mutianyu accommodation should not be confused with Yanqi Lake accommodation. The two areas are within Huairou but require separate road transfers.
Miyun District Hotels
Gubei Water Town and Simatai Great Wall
Miyun District (密云区) contains Simatai Great Wall, Gubei Water Town, Miyun Reservoir and extensive mountain countryside.
Gubei Water Town operates three broad accommodation categories: large hotels, boutique hotels and guesthouses. Its official booking system includes properties such as Gubei Zhiguang Hot Spring Resort Hotel (古北之光温泉度假酒店) and Hangu Villa Hotel (函谷山庄酒店), together with smaller themed inns.
Staying inside the resort is recommended for travelers wishing to see the illuminated town, evening performances and Simatai Great Wall at night. Hotels outside the ticketed area may offer lower prices but require additional entry and transport arrangements.
Miyun Reservoir and Rural Retreats
Around the reservoir and northern mountain valleys, accommodation consists mainly of conference resorts, rural hotels and homestays. Beijing Yunhu Times Conference Center (北京云湖时代会议中心) received both Gold Leaf green-hotel recognition and a Silver Feather theme-hotel rating in the 2025 assessment, reflecting its aviation and educational character.
Foreign visitors should confirm passport-registration capability before booking a small village homestay.
Yanqing District Hotels
Badaling Great Wall
Yanqing District (延庆区) is the best accommodation base for Badaling, Shuiguan, the Beijing Expo Park, Longqing Gorge, Yeya Lake and several ski resorts.
Commune by the Great Wall (长城脚下的公社) is located near the Shuiguan section and combines contemporary architecture with a mountain-retreat setting. It is part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection.
This hotel is near Shuiguan rather than the principal Badaling visitor entrance. Travelers should not assume that every hotel carrying “Great Wall” or “Badaling” in its name provides walking access to Badaling.
Beijing Expo Park and Central Yanqing
Hyatt Regency Beijing Shiyuan (北京世园凯悦酒店) lies opposite the former Beijing Expo grounds and provides access to Badaling, Longqing Gorge and nearby ski areas. Hyatt Place Beijing Shiyuan (北京世园凯悦嘉轩酒店) is a more moderately positioned option close to the Expo area and less than 15 kilometres from Badaling.
Hyatt Place Beijing Shiyuan received a Silver Feather theme-hotel rating in the 2025 municipal assessment.
Central Yanqing is usually more practical than a remote Great Wall resort for travelers who need restaurants, railway connections and access to several attractions.
Mentougou District Hotels
Mentougou District (门头沟区) contains western mountains, ancient villages, temples, forest landscapes and sections of Beijing’s former coal-mining and railway heritage.
Accommodation is dominated by mountain guesthouses, rural boutique hotels and traditional city hotels around the district center. Beijing Longquan Hotel (北京龙泉宾馆) remained a four-star property in the 2025 municipal review.
Mentougou is suitable for hiking, village culture and weekend retreats. Mountain properties can be difficult to reach without a private vehicle, and heavy rain may affect roads and scenic-area access.
Fangshan District Hotels
Fangshan District (房山区) contains Zhoukoudian, Shidu, Yunju Temple, mountain valleys, geological attractions and the southwestern university town.
City hotels are concentrated around Liangxiang, while Shidu and the mountain areas offer rural resorts and guesthouses. Beijing Huihao International Hotel (北京汇豪国际酒店) was newly rated as a four-star hotel in the 2025 assessment.
Travelers visiting Shidu or remote geological areas should stay close to the actual attraction rather than commuting from central Fangshan or downtown Beijing.
Pinggu District Hotels
Pinggu District (平谷区) is associated with Jinhai Lake, mountain landscapes, peach orchards, village holidays and recreational agriculture. Its accommodation is mainly composed of lakeside resorts, countryside hotels, camps and boutique homestays.
Pinggu is one of Beijing’s ecological conservation districts and is being positioned for leisure, countryside and micro-vacation accommodation rather than dense urban hotel construction.
Spring blossom periods, summer weekends and autumn outdoor events can create high demand. A private car is usually necessary for rural properties.

Booking Tips for International Visitors
Confirm Foreign-Passport Registration
Large international hotels and established Chinese chains routinely register international guests. Small courtyard hotels and rural homestays may have less experience with foreign passports.
Send the property a written message before paying and confirm that it can complete accommodation registration for the nationality and passport type of every guest. Beijing’s new accommodation policy specifically calls for improving overseas-guest registration, multilingual services and international payment facilities.
Choose a Metro Station, Not Just a District
District names cover very large areas. A hotel in Chaoyang may be in the CBD, Sanlitun, Wangjing, the airport corridor or near the Sixth Ring Road.
For a central cultural trip, stay within a short walk of a metro station and verify the actual journey to the Forbidden City, Qianmen and the relevant railway station.
Check the Correct Airport
Beijing has two major airports on opposite sides of the municipality. Capital Airport is in the northeast, while Daxing Airport is far to the south.
An airport hotel near PEK is not useful for a PKX departure, and a Daxing Airport hotel is usually an inconvenient base for northern Beijing.
Distinguish Scenic-Area Hotels from City Hotels
A hotel in Yanqing, Huairou or Miyun may be 60 to 150 kilometres from central Beijing. These should be treated as destination stays, not inexpensive substitutes for central accommodation.
Check Attraction Access Benefits
Universal Resort hotels may include early park entry, while Gubei Water Town accommodation can have different resort-entry and shuttle arrangements. Benefits vary by rate plan, date and ticket package.
Read the package conditions instead of assuming every room includes attraction admission.
Check Vehicle Access to Courtyard Hotels
Historic hutongs may be pedestrianized or too narrow for larger vehicles. Ask whether the driver can reach the entrance, whether the hotel provides luggage assistance and how far guests must walk.
Confirm Room Size and Windows
Beijing’s older city hotels and courtyard conversions may have small rooms, internal-facing windows or rooms below ground level. Confirm floor, window type and room size before booking a heavily discounted rate.
Check Smoking Arrangements
Request a confirmed non-smoking room rather than relying solely on a preference added to the booking. Ask for a room on a fully non-smoking floor when smoke sensitivity is important.
Plan Breakfast and Dietary Needs
International luxury hotels generally offer extensive breakfasts, but strict halal certification is uncommon. Muslim travelers should confirm whether the hotel can avoid pork, alcohol and shared cooking equipment.
Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chaoyang and Haidian provide more external dining alternatives than remote Great Wall and mountain resorts.
Book Early during Major Events
Hotel demand rises during Chinese New Year, Labour Day, National Day, international exhibitions, major concerts, sporting events, autumn foliage, skiing weekends and Great Wall holidays.
Olympic-area, Shunyi exhibition, Universal Resort, Yanqi Lake and Yanqing hotels may sell out because of a single major event rather than a citywide tourism peak.
Verify Current Ratings
Star, green and theme-hotel ratings can be newly awarded, reviewed, suspended or cancelled. Beijing’s 2025 assessment included new ratings, successful reviews, required corrections and cancelled qualifications. Do not rely indefinitely on an old badge displayed by an online booking platform.
Recommended Accommodation by Travel Style
First-Time Beijing Tour
Choose Wangfujing, Dongdan, Qianmen or Xidan. These locations provide the strongest balance of historic sightseeing, metro connections, restaurants and international services.
Luxury Cultural Journey
Combine a central luxury hotel such as The PuXuan, The Peninsula or Mandarin Oriental Qianmen with one suburban destination stay at Aman Summer Palace, Yanqi Lake, the Great Wall or Gubei Water Town.
Family Holiday
Stay centrally for the Forbidden City and museums, then move to an official Universal Resort hotel, Yanqi Lake resort, Shougang Park hotel or Yanqing family property.
Business and Conference Travel
Use the CBD for corporate headquarters, Financial Street for finance and government business, Wangjing for technology, Lize for southwest Beijing, Shunyi for exhibitions and Yanqi Lake for large conferences.
Hutong and Traditional Culture
Select Qianmen, Dongsi, Shichahai or Gulou. Confirm bathroom facilities, luggage access and heating or air conditioning before choosing a historic courtyard property.
Great Wall Holiday
Use Yanqing for Badaling, Huairou for Mutianyu and Miyun for Simatai. The three areas should not be treated as interchangeable because they are separated by long road journeys.
Airport Stopover
Stay beside the airport used for the next flight. Hilton Beijing Capital Airport is suitable for PEK, while Mumian or an airport-zone hotel is more suitable for PKX.
Rural and Mountain Retreat
Choose Pinggu, Mentougou, Fangshan, Huairou, Miyun or Yanqing according to the specific attraction. Confirm transport, passport registration, dining and mobile-phone coverage before arrival.

Beijing Hotel Services with Yaso Trip
Yaso Trip arranges customized Beijing accommodation and hotel services for international travelers, families, Muslim groups, business delegations, students and cultural organizations. Hotel selection can be coordinated with attraction reservations, railway schedules, airport terminals, private transportation and the geographical direction of the itinerary.
Accommodation options can include international luxury hotels, four-star and three-star business hotels, courtyard residences, heritage properties, Universal Resort hotels, airport hotels, Great Wall resorts and countryside homestays. Services may include room-type confirmation, connecting rooms, breakfast arrangements, halal meal coordination, airport and railway transfers, attraction packages and confirmation that the property can register international passports.
The best Beijing accommodation plan usually combines one central hotel with one destination stay. A traveler may spend several nights near Wangfujing or Qianmen, then add a night at Universal Resort, Yanqi Lake, Badaling, Mutianyu or Gubei Water Town. This approach avoids long daily transfers while allowing Beijing’s accommodation itself to become part of the travel experience.
