Chinese drinks are an important part of the culture of China, with a history of thousands of years and strong influence on daily life, social activities, and tourism experiences. From traditional alcoholic beverages to modern soft drinks, China drink culture represents a unique combination of heritage and modern lifestyle. For travelers, exploring Chinese beverages is one of the best ways to understand local customs and regional specialties.

The most famous traditional drink is Baijiu China, a strong grain-based liquor widely consumed in meals and festivals. At the same time, the modern China beverage market is growing rapidly, including coffee, juice, milk drinks, and carbonated drinks, especially in major cities such as Shanghai and Beijing. These Chinese soft drinks and modern beverages reflect the fast-changing urban lifestyle and consumer trends.

Another core part of Chinese drink culture is Chinese tea, which originated in China and remains the national drink. Famous tea regions like Yunnan Province are known for Pu’er tea, while southern China is famous for Oolong tea and green tea. In addition, Chinese wine production has developed rapidly, with regions such as Ningxia gaining global recognition for premium wines.

Baijiu is a kind of Chinese liquor made from grain, which literally means "white (clear) alcohol" or liquor. It is a clear liquid usually distilled from fermented sorghum, although other grains may be used; some southeastern Chinese styles may employ rice or glutinous rice, while other Chinese varieties may use wheat, barley, millet in their mash bills. The qū starter culture used in the production of baijiu is usually made from pulverized wheat grain or steamed rice. Ranging from 40 to a whopping 60% alcohol by volume content, the national liquor is not for the faint of heart.

As living standards have improved in China, beverage consumption has changed. The beverage market in China is one of the fastest growing markets in the Chinese food industry. Coffee, Carbonated Beverages, Juice, Milk and Protein beverages are favored by most people.

Tea drinking was popular in ancient China as tea was regarded as one of the seven daily necessities, the others being firewood, rice, oil, salt, soy sauce, and vinegar, which has been a part of Chinese culture since before the third century.
