Why is Basha Miao Village So Special?

It is a purely Miao village with a total of 5 stockades and 16 groups of villagers. 371 families live with 2,061 people. Legend of Basha Miao Village

It is said that the ancestors of the Basha Miao people were the vanguard troops during the great migration. For thousands of years, the men here kept the custom of long hair and braided hair, and hung shotguns, gourds, horns, machetes on their waists and powder shotguns on their shoulders all the year round. The women tied up their buns, wore wooden combs, and wore triangular skirts printed with figures by Miao Wang Fang, forming a strange “cultural island”. Baasha village is not big. The village is built at the mouth of Shan Liang ‘ao and on the half slope facing Du Liu River. The wooden building in the village is simple and unsophisticated. Surrounded by dense forests, the environment is elegant. The villagers are all Miao people, with traditional clothes and peculiar hair style. His attire is a relic of Qin and Han dynasties. Busa’s man wears a bun on his head. He wears his own woven collarless right lapel bright cloth and straight large trouser legs bright cloth trousers. For many years, he wore a broadsword and a powder shotgun on his shoulder, just like an ancient warrior. Women wear bright cloth dresses made by themselves and silver ornaments. Now they still have little-known sickle shaving, ancient hairstyle, simple marriage customs and special funerals. Main Attractions of Basha Miao Village

The whole village of Basha lies between 480 meters and 660 meters above sea level, and is located in the wooded land.

Festivals and sacrificial activities are all held by the fire pool. The fireplace is not only a place for sacrifices, but also a place for people to cook food, receive guests and keep warm. A one meter square kang frame is set above the fireplace to bake grain. Boar skulls are hung on the wall beside the fireplace. Some bungalows, like buildings, have long corridors to provide people with cool air, rest, dining, women making money and spinning and weaving. Generally speaking, the building has three floors, and the wood boards on the bottom wall are horizontally installed, which are mainly used for keeping livestock, poultry and stacking firewood. The second floor is provided with a fireplace, a long corridor and a bedroom. On the third floor, you can place household items that you seldom use at ordinary times. At home, buffalo horns are placed on the third floor and some are tied to the center pillar. Wang Jia Zhai has a pair of ox horns tied to a post formerly used as a cattle ring but now used as a team management committee (Basha does not feed and fight cattle now).

During the busy farming season, women go to the fields to help men work. In addition to farming and weaving, the Pasha also organize fishing and hunting activities in their spare time. Apart from hunting dogs, fishing and hunting tools mainly include shotguns, finches, sticky paste, fishing nets, fishing bags and traps. The Pasha public fishing ground is five streams (also known as Pasha stream) below the mountain. The stream originates from the foot of the northern slope of the nose of the high green bobcat, flows through the mountain, the big hole, the Longjiang River and Pasha to Congjiang Brewery, and then flows into Duliu River, with a total length of 23km and Zazhang Waterfall. Every year after the June festival, the river becomes smaller and the whole village goes to the lower reaches of the stream to fish with herbs. When the Liujiang River swells in spring and summer every year, Basha people also often use fishing boats and boats to fish on the river near the county seat.

Basha is located on the edge of Yunnan-Guizhou plateau, surrounded by mountains. Basha Town has been an amphibious transportation center since ancient times. Zhenyuan has a subtropical humid climate with an annual average temperature of 16.4 degrees and four distinct seasons. Therefore, it is an ideal tourist destination all the year round.

How to Get There

  • There are fewer flights from Kaili to Congjiang, and there are usually only cars in the morning. Tourists can go to Rongjiang and Liping before transferring to Congjiang.
  • Rongjiang to Congjiang is a first-class highway. The scenery along the road is very good and the ticket price is 15 yuan. Chartered bus to 120 yuan, 2-3 hours.
  • If you want to go from Jiang to Sanjiang, there are CMB 15 yuan/person, about 4-5 hours, and the sleeping car from Jiang to Liuzhou also goes through Sanjiang, 20 yuan/person.
