• 311 BCE: After the fall of the Shu Kingdom, the Qin Dynasty (秦朝) expanded the city under Zhang Yi (张仪), constructing the city's central area, which is now the location of Tianfu Square.

• During the Three Kingdoms Period, the square area was home to the Shu Han (蜀汉) royal palace.
