    (山西省晋中市)

Pingyao Confucian Temple (平遥文庙) is located in the southeast corner of the ancient city of Pingyao County (平遥县), Jinzhong City (晋中市), Shanxi Province. First built during the early years of the Tang Dynasty’s Zhenguan reign (627–649), its Dacheng Hall (大成殿) was rebuilt in 1163 during the Jin Dynasty and has retained its original appearance. It is the oldest surviving Dacheng Hall among all Confucian temples in China and the only existing Confucian temple building from the Jin Dynasty.

The temple complex connects to the city wall in the south and faces Chenghuangmiao Street (城隍庙街) in the north, covering a total area of 35,811 m², with the temple itself occupying 8,649.6 m². It consists of six courtyards aligned along a central axis, including Yingbi (影壁), Lingxing Gate (棂星门), Pan Pond (泮池), Dacheng Gate (大成门), Dacheng Hall (大成殿), Minglun Hall (明伦堂), Jingyi Pavilion (敬一亭), and Zunjing Pavilion (尊经阁).
