Taiyang Tribe Scenic Area (太阳部落) is located in Manzhuang Town, Daiyue District, Tai’an, approximately 25 kilometers from downtown Tai’an. It is a National 4A Tourist Attraction and the first large-scale cultural theme park in China centered on the Dawenkou prehistoric civilization. Situated at the southern foot of Mount Tai and within the core area where Dawenkou culture originated, the park takes the lives of the Dawenkou people 5,000 years ago and ancient Chinese mythology as its main creative themes.
The park combines prehistoric cultural displays with live performances, roller coasters, immersive cinema experiences, and other entertainment facilities. It is divided into six themed areas: Time Travel, Dreaming of Dawenkou, Prehistoric Exploration, Prehistoric Adventure, Romance in Dawenkou, and Jinwu Ancient Town. With a combination of cultural experiences and amusement rides, Taiyang Tribe is particularly suitable for families with children and younger travelers looking for an entertaining day trip beyond the traditional Mount Tai sightseeing experience.
Main Highlights
Time Tunnel
The Time Tunnel is one of the first attractions visitors encounter after entering the park. This long light-and-shadow tunnel uses special lighting effects to create the sensation of traveling back to the prehistoric era. The immersive experience provides an atmospheric introduction to the park's prehistoric theme. Visitors pass through the tunnel by escalator, and there is no additional charge for this attraction.
Dreaming of Dawenkou Cultural Exhibition Hall
The Dreaming of Dawenkou Cultural Exhibition Hall recreates the houses, pottery, and everyday scenes of the ancient Dawenkou people. Visitors can see prehistoric pottery and household implements while learning about the production methods, customs, and daily life of people living in southern Shandong approximately 5,000 years ago. The exhibition combines entertainment with educational and cultural value, making it particularly suitable for family visits and educational trips.
Thrilling Amusement Rides
For visitors seeking excitement, the park offers several high-adrenaline attractions. Gonggong's Wrath (共工的愤怒) is a suspended roller coaster featuring a 360-degree loop and is one of the park's most popular thrill rides. Pangu's Roar (盘古狂叫) is a 60-meter-high drop tower that delivers an intense feeling of weightlessness. High-Altitude Bullfighting (高空斗牛) is a rotating high-altitude ride designed for visitors who enjoy challenging amusement attractions.
Nuwa Repairs the Sky – 4D Dome Cinema
Nuwa Repairs the Sky (女娲补天) is an immersive dome cinema based on the ancient Chinese myth of Nuwa repairing the sky. The theater uses a large dome screen together with moving seats and realistic wind, rain, thunder, and lightning effects to create an immersive cinematic experience. Suitable for both children and adults, it is one of the park's signature indoor attractions and is also a good choice when visitors want to escape the summer sun or rainy weather.
Prehistoric Rafting
Prehistoric Rafting is a jungle canyon rafting attraction in which the waterway passes through caves and wooded sections. Riders can expect to get wet, making it particularly enjoyable during the summer months. Bringing or purchasing suitable rain protection is recommended. Rafting is a paid extra attraction and is not included in the standard admission ticket.
Live Performances
The park features several live entertainment programs throughout the day. Flash Flood is a large-scale outdoor performance that uses lighting, sound, special effects, and simulated heavy rain and flooding to recreate the dramatic impact of a prehistoric mountain flood and is considered one of the park's must-see shows. Return from the Hunt Parade features performers dressed in prehistoric tribal costumes as they travel through the park's streets, while interactive programs such as the Piggy Sports Games provide additional entertainment for families and children. Performance times are scheduled at fixed intervals but may vary according to the season, so visitors should check the day's announcements after entering the park.
Jinwu Ancient Town
Jinwu Ancient Town (金乌古镇) is a commercial street designed in a prehistoric-inspired style, with local snacks, cultural and creative shops, and places to rest and replenish after a day of activities. The Animal Fun Kingdom nearby allows visitors to see small animals, while some animal-feeding activities require separate payment.
Travel Tips: The standard admission ticket covers most amusement facilities and regular performances, while rafting, electric sightseeing vehicles, and some animal-feeding activities require additional payment. Popular attractions can have long queues during public holidays, so arriving early is recommended. Since the rafting attraction can get visitors completely wet, prepare suitable rainwear and a change of clothes in advance. The park is relatively large, so comfortable walking or sports shoes are recommended. Performance schedules may change according to the season, so pick up a park map and confirm the day's show times as soon as you enter.

Online adult tickets are generally available at discounted prices compared with standard admission. Full-time students can receive a half-price discount with valid identification.
