The Site of the First National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party is now preserved as a museum in Shanghai, China. The museum combines exhibits about the history of China, the history of the city of Shanghai, and the events surrounding the foundation of the Chinese Communist Party.

It is located at No.76 Xingye Road, next to Shanghai Xintiandi.

How to Get There?

• Take bus 146 or 805 and get off at Madanglu Xingyelu Station, go along Madang Road for two minutes and turn east at Xintiandi Post Office.
• Take City Sightseeing Bus Line 1 to get there directly.
• Take Metro Line 1 and get off at South Huangpi Rd. Station. Leave from Exit 2 and walk along South Huangpi Road till Xingye Road on your right side.

History

The 1st National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held in Shanghai and Jiaxing between July 23 and August 2, 1921. The Congress established the Communist Party of China. It was succeeded by the 2nd National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

In the living room where the conference is held on the first floor, everything is the same as it was 84 years ago. In this small room of 18 square meters (194 square feet), the imitation of the original article creates a grand atmosphere. Upstairs is a 450 square meter (4860 square foot) exhibition hall, displaying more than 100 revolutionary relics, documents and photos. The exhibits cover the history of the birth of the Communist Party of China, the blooming of the Communist Party of China and the photos of 13 party members. In addition, the wax museum at the site of the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China vividly represents the scene of this important conference. The other 12 members smiled as they listened to Mao Zedong, the founder of the people's Republic of China. The wax figures are lifelike, as if to keep time still and let people return to the exciting moment.
