What to See in Shu Brocade and Embroidery Museum

Shu Embroidery

Shu Embroidery is one of the four schools of embroidery in China together with the Su Embroidery in Jiangsu province, the Xiang Embroidery in Hunan province and the Yue Embroidery in Guangdong province. Works of Shu Embroidery featuring the giant panda, crane, golden carp, hibiscus, peony, lotus, bamboo as well as Chinese landscape paintings grace the eye in the museum.

Shu Brocade in Different Periods

There are replicas of numerous sots of Shu Brocade from Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods to Qing Dynasty in Shu Brocade and Embroidery Museum. What you can’t miss is the Three Wonders in Late Qing Dynasty, namely Shower Quilt Surface (雨丝被面), Yuahua Jin-silk (月华锦) and Square Jin-silk (方方锦) which combined traditional colorful and creative decoration arts.

Costumes Collections

The most symbolic costumes of Ming and Qing Dynasties include vest, riding-jacket, cheongsam, horse-face skirt and three golden lotuses can be find in the museum. Although considered strange and mysterious, the costumes of Ming and Qing Dynasties and the embroidery pieces collected in this the museum are truly exquisite artwork.
