Sange Park
Sange Park is a cultural urban park that integrates ancient pavilion heritage, river confluence scenery and ecological green space, located on Tianjin Road, Huichuan District, Zunyi City, at the junction of Gaoping River and Xiangjiang River (formerly Lama River). Its name comes from three historic pavilions representing the integration of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism—Wenchang Pavilion (Confucianism), Guanyin Pavilion (Buddhism) and Chunyang Pavilion (Taoism). First founded in the early Qing Dynasty, the current pavilions were reconstructed on the original sites and opened to the public in 2002. It is a free, popular destination for citizens’ daily leisure and cultural tourism, and a rare urban spot to appreciate classical Chinese architecture together with river landscapes.
Architectural & Natural Features
- Ancient Pavilions Complex: Three traditional Chinese-style pavilions with curved overhanging eaves, red pillars and green tiles, and exquisite wood carvings, arranged along the riverbank. The main entrance is a grand antique archway with four pillars and three gates, flanked by stone lions, and inscribed with couplets telling the origin of the park.
- River Confluence Landscape: The intersection of two rivers forms a beautiful peninsula. Chunyang Pavilion offers an excellent viewing platform to overlook the rivers and the urban skyline.
- Lush Ecological Greenery: Well-designed gardens with dense trees, flower beds, winding paths and small bridges over flowing water, serving as a “green lung” in the urban area.
- Cultural Relics: Stone carvings of Preface to Sange Park record the historical origin of the three pavilions; the tomb of “Lady Changnai” is linked to the local cultural context.
