Dadonghai Beach is one of Sanya cleanest beaches, situated about only 3 km from the center of the city and just off the main road. The beach close proximity to the city means that it can get very busy here, but this remains a pleasant and convenient spot to kick off your shoes, soak up the rays and swim in the sea.

Here, one can take a leisurely sunbath, listen to the sound of waves, collect shells or build sand castles on the beach, or dive into the deep water to meet a variety of fishes. Dadonghai provides visitors with Barrier Reef Diving, Pirate Bar Diving Club, and Global Diving Base. About 330 yards (300 meters) east along the beach is the Seashore Park. Standing on the top of the small hill inside the park, you have a panoramic view of the beach and the vast water. On the east side of the beach there is an Amusement Park with thrilling activities such as a Pirate Boat, merry-go-round and bungee jumping

Walk eastwards for about 300 meters, you will reach a coastal park, and there is sea-view pavilion on a hill top in the park, where you can have a bird view of the ocean. And there are famous Bailu Park and Luhuitou Park near the beach, which can be reached by public bus or tourist express bus nearby.

How to get there

• You may take Bus Route No.4 or 15 and get off at Dadonghai Bus Station(“大东海"站); As the nearest beach to Sanya downtown, Dadonghai Beach enjoys convenient public transport.
• You may take Bus Route 2, 8, 15, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 28 and then get off at Dongdonghai Square Station ("大东海广场"站)
• Sightseeing buses running between major attractions such as Yalong Bay, Dadonghai, Sanya Bay, Western Island Dock, and Tianya Haijiao depart every 30 minutes from 7:00 to 19:00.
• Taxi from downtown Sanya to the scenic area costs about CNY 15, and sometimes you need to bargain with the driver.
