    Why is China Tobacco Museum in Shanghai so Special?

    Shanghai China Tobacco Museum is a national thematic museum and the largest tobacco Museum in the world (as of 2012). It is a professional museum mainly for collecting, displaying and studying Chinese tobacco. In front of the museum there are five totem poles with an average height of 9 meters (30 feet), carved with traditional Chinese patterns, such as dragons, phoenixes, lions, cranes and horses.

    The China Tobacco Museum is located at No. 728 Changyang Road, Yangpu District in Shanghai.

    How to Get There?

    • Take Line 12 and get off at Jiangpu Gongyuan (Jiangpu Park) Station. Leave from exit 3 and walk west for five minutes to the museum.
    •  Take Line 4 or 12 and get off at Dalianlu Station. Leave from exit 5 and walk east for five minutes to the museum.
    • Take Bus No. 22, 137, 868, 934 or Shenchuan Special Line and get off at Changyanglu Xuchanglu Station
    • Take Bus No. 80 or 960 and get off at Xuchanglu Changyanglu Station. Then walk west for two or three minutes to the museum.

    Venue Introduction

    The China Tobacco Museum is jointly built by the Chinese tobacco industries, covering an area of 5511 square meters and a total construction area of 9617 square meters. It has seven exhibition halls, including the history of tobacco development, tobacco agriculture, tobacco industry, tobacco culture, tobacco trade, tobacco management, smoking and tobacco control, and the New Century Hall. The exhibits include photos, documents, real objects, models, scenes, real wax figures, etc., introducing the development history of the tobacco industry in mainland China. In the tobacco culture museum, there are smoking customs, smoking utensils, cigarette signs, pictures and so on. The museum has a full-time interpreter and a Chinese English voice guide system

    1.Admission Fee: Free, but passport or ID card is required when entering

    2.Opening Hours: 09:00 -16:00 on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and China public holidays

    3.Group visit can be accepted from Monday to Friday with appointment in advance.
