Important: The golden viewing window for active pandas is 07:30–10:30. When temperatures exceed 26°C, all pandas retreat indoors to air-conditioned spaces for their midday nap, remaining largely motionless – significantly diminishing the viewing experience.

Adult Giant Panda Enclosure

The place is where adult pandas live. Here you can see adult pandas' daily life, such as playing, eating, sleeping and so on. Adult Giant Panda Enclosure is a closed leisure place for pandas in the base. There are open-air gardens and indoor lounges. When the weather is cool, the giant panda will play in the garden.

Sunshine Nursery House

Located in the core area of Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, it is the place where the giant pandas ready to give birth, and the newborn and young pandas live. It is known as the kindergarten of giant panda and one of the most popular places in the whole base. Photo taking is generally not allowed in the area, for it might be harmful to the eyes of baby panda.

Giant Panda Museum

The Giant Panda Museum at the base is the world's only museum that focuses entirely on the giant panda. You can learn a lot about this at-risk animal in the museum. The Giant Panda Museum has three main halls to visit. There is the Giant Panda Hall, the Vertebrate Hall, and the Butterfly Hall. Lots of displays can be found in the museum such as various information about the wild animals, models, fossils, pictures, and samples.

South Gate Old Area (Home to Huahua, Cubs, and Main Tourist Flow)

Juvenile Giant Panda Villa (Villa No. 6 – Huahua's Exclusive Enclosure)

This is the park's undisputed number one attraction, home to internet-famous panda He Hua (和花) and her twin brother He Ye (和叶). He Hua is recognizable by her round face, short legs, and pigeon-toed walk, with a notably gentle temperament. Her daily scheduled feeding sessions occur at 10:30 and 14:00. Queue rules: during holidays, line up one hour before opening for a 2–5 minute viewing limit; on weekdays, arriving at 07:30 yields the shortest wait. The villa operates normally on Mondays with no closure. Villas No. 1–5 nearby house sub-adult pandas, which are highly active and playful – climbing trees and tussling with each other – making for excellent photo opportunities.

Moon Nursery (Newborn Cub Cluster)

This nursery specializes in panda cubs aged 1–6 months, featuring pinkish, miniature babies in incubators. Visitors can observe mothers nursing and grooming their cubs at close range. New cubs are present throughout the year, with the highest numbers during the breeding season from April to September. The indoor climate control ensures viewing is unaffected by weather conditions.

Sun Nursery (Half-Year-Old Cubs)

Home to cubs aged 3–9 months, this facility offers larger activity spaces where young pandas practice climbing, rolling, and group feeding sessions. The morning feeding scenes are particularly heartwarming, and the bamboo backdrop provides excellent portrait photography settings.

Red Panda Activity Area
