Why is the Aviation Museum in Beijing so Special

The Chinese Aviation Museum sometimes is referred to as the China Aviation Museum and the Datangshan Aviation Museum. It is Asia’s largest aviation museum. This massive facility is an aircraft enthusiast dream but will intrigue anyone with an interest in history, the military, or engineering. There are more than 200 aircraft on display, with an emphasis on the Korean War and the Cold War. The collection includes many unique machines, including a 1903 Wright Flyer replica.

It is located in Xiaotangshan Town, Changping District, Beijing.

How to Get There

• Take Subway Line 5 to Tiantongyuanbei Station. Then transfer to bus 643 and get off at Hangkong Bowuguan (Aviation Museum) Station. Upon arrival, take a taxi or walk 1,200 yards (1,100 meters) north to the museum.
• Take the Subway Changping Line to Shahe Station. Get out from Exit B1. Then take bus 945 and get off at Hangkong Bowuguan Station.

Cavern Exhibition Area

The Cavern Exhibition Area covers an area of 20000 square meters, and 265 circular lamps are inlaid on the arch roof, forming a starry landscape. Two light strips on both sides make the exhibition hall more spacious and bright. The exhibits in the cave exhibition hall are displayed on both sides of the large exhibition hall according to the historical sequence, from the ancient Chinese aviation invention and discovery to the high-speed fighter aircraft used in the contemporary era, from the aircraft imported from abroad in modern times to various types of domestic aircraft.

Open-Air Area

The open-air exhibition area is divided into two parts by hero Avenue. The plane in the exhibition area is specially designed for special people besides the lake. There are also fighters and cargo planes, as well as a variety of helicopters and weapons.

Treasures Hall

The Treasures Hall is 600 square meters, divided into three exhibition rooms. In the first exhibition room, there are various models of remote control aircraft and real aircraft made by the Aviation Museum; in the second exhibition room, there are precious gifts given to the leaders of the Chinese party and government by the heads of foreign governments; in the third exhibition room, there are exquisite military insignia, military insignia and other gifts given to the people's air force by foreign military delegations, aviation friends and other friendly people
